I'm a huge fan of dystopian books! I even loved them before The Hunger Games made it the new popular genre. ;) Nowadays it seems lots of debut authors are making their way via dystopia, and even mixing it up with some paranormal as well. It's a hit or miss, like any genre, and here are a few favorites of mine, but if you win, you can pick out any book that's dystopian as long as
TBD ships to your country! (And it's under about $12 USD) :)
Rafflecopter below the pics :)
I usually like to see how the government has taken over people's lives.
ReplyDeleteThe best part about dystopian books for me is seeing the various and numerous ways authors think us humans can mess things up and destroy our futures. I love the darkness and intensity of these stories.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like the most about dystopian books is to see what is different from our world and how the life is organized.
ReplyDeleteThe thing i like the most in dystopian books is the hero's journey, when they fight against the oppression =]

ReplyDeleteI like seeing what happens when ideas that are on the margins in our own society become the dogmas of other societies.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I love how dystopian books often seem kind of far fetched, but if done correctly, it's easy to imagine that our world could be like that hundreds of years in the future. It's fun to speculate!
ReplyDeleteThe possibility of what our country might become. I can totally see half of the dystopians I read actually coming true. :D
ReplyDeleteI like reading the different stories of HOW our world became dystopian.
ReplyDeleteI like the uncertainity
ReplyDeletemy favorite part on dystopia is unusual custom adopted in new world

ReplyDeletewhat I love most about dystopian novels is that through them I find a different world. So much different than our. I also like how the characters, at first, just go with the flow and the next time, they're going against the government. I sooo love Dystopian Novels. <3 :))
ReplyDeleteI like the new society
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what has happens to society and our cultures in the future!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy reading the survival aspect, especially in some of those apocalyptic dystopians! It's interesting to me to watch the characters navigate through difficult circumstances :)
ReplyDeleteMary DeBorde M.A.D.
The thing that I love the most in a dystopian novel is how the hero/heroine would fight the government.
ReplyDeleteI love the dystopian culture uniqueness :D
ReplyDeleteI love the new world being built (and it usually differs from the world of today), the part where it seems people can totally mess up everything (and I mean EVERYTHING!) and my favourite part is the dark atmosphere that is actually kinda beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! :)
I love how they explain how the world came to be that way and how they perceive the past
ReplyDeleteMy favourite thing about Dystopian novels is that they are always, ALWAYS filled with excitement, suspense and action. I also love imagining a world completely different to the one we live in today :)
ReplyDeleteOn what worst possible future awaits us.
ReplyDeleteI like to see people revolt against oppressing governments.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love dystopia especially for the great ideas an author puts in the story, with all the (small) changes from how we live, because the world is different from ours.
The futuristic aspect of the written world :D
ReplyDeletei like the struggles
ReplyDeleteI love the world building and reading about each author's take on how the world would change based on the disasters.
ReplyDeleteI love the unique plots and the intricate details of the world. I also enjoying reading about the main character's struggles to go above the status quot.
ReplyDeleteI like to read about how those worlds became dystopian, if it was a natural catastrophe, decay in society, a war, etc.
ReplyDeleteI love the sometime crazy society that we can get to know. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Seeing the parallels and opposites of that dystopian society and ours. And if it's an oppressive one that the hero has to battle with, I *just* have to see the hero win.
ReplyDeleteWorld building for sure!
ReplyDeleteI like that dystopian books are set in a different society as ours. The world described is often weird and crazy and destroyed.
ReplyDeletei do love to read about the world building and new society
ReplyDeleteI like to learn about how they survive their daily lives. Food, shelter, etc.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoying the world building as well!

ReplyDeleteI love reading about the restrictions placed in that particular society and how the protagonist deals with (or retaliate against) the oppression.
ReplyDeleteI love that dystopian novels warn us against the potential dangers we could create for ourselves if we're not responsible as a society!

ReplyDeleteLacey T
I love how the worlds are so close to our own and yet so different. They really make me think about how one little thing can totally change our lives.
ReplyDeleteI also love the world building! Another is the action scenes you usually find in most dystopian books! :))
ReplyDeleteI like learning about the differences between their society and our own.

ReplyDeleteHow they are usually very different with our own society today :)
ReplyDeleteThe surprise elements :)
ReplyDeleteI love how their world is so different from what we know. I also love the surprise in dystopian book.
ReplyDeleteThe same as your answer--I really liked the idea of building another world from author's imagination. It shows their talent and it's an adventure to us readers. Though I realized that the concept of dystopian is all the same--not a very good Government and Officials and Rules and the protagonists are always Rebel. But still, I enjoy them. :)
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about dystopian novel is that you never know what you are getting into....
ReplyDeleteThe obstacles the characters have to overcome.
ReplyDeleteI like reading about the new customs too.
ReplyDeleteI like reading about a possible future the author has imagined and seeing how the characters deal with what is happening! Thanks for this amazing giveaway - I would love to win!

Dystopians are one of my favorite genres and I love the strong unbreakable characters, unique settings and world buildings and how a romance is still possible sometimes in the most dire circumstances. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like seeing how the new worlds are created and how the characters fit into the world, plus it's interesting seeing where this new world is located in comparison to our world.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to read about what went wrong exactly. You know, maybe we can prevent it from actually happening in the future.
ReplyDeleteI like to know what happened for the world to end up that way and how they resolve their issues.
ReplyDeleteGreat question! Takes some thinking. I would say mine is the unique ideas that are created like: having to be genetically matched to provide the perfect society, or aptitude tests for employment/status, or the games they create to weed out the weak. I just love dystopic books with a passion. They help my imagination explore now avenues instead of the current life scenarios. Makes you wonder if this society will ever steep to those types of ideas. Maybe the future holds something similar and maybe not.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the world building, but I also love the pieces that make you really think about our decisions and how they could effect the future.
ReplyDeleteI like to see how the world changed from before the dystopian society came around and how the government/'man in power' takes over people's lives. Along with the slip ups the main character notices to finally come to the conclusion that those in charge are not looking for the people'e benefit but rather their own.
ReplyDeleteNow that you mention it, I also really enjoy some of the strange customs in the dystopian worlds, but I also really enjoy that many dystopians explore the darker aspects of human nature and what people would be willing to do to one another to survive at all costs.
ReplyDeleteI love reading about how a society tries to overcome these trials and learns to survive!

ReplyDeleteI think it the different ways in which society re-invents itself and the extent in which humans survive all sort of catastrophes.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is definitely the world building also, but I enjoy seeing how the author writes the characters and how they overcome their obstacles. :)
